Questions people ask
Do I have to take the exam?
No. The certification is optional and included at no extra cost. Plenty of students buy the program purely for themselves or their family and never sit the test.
How long does it take?
Most people finish in two to three weeks working at a comfortable pace. You have up to a year, and there's no penalty for taking your time.
What if I fail the exam?
Most people pass on the first try. You get up to six attempts. The first two submissions are free; after that there's a $25 fee per submission.
What exactly is this certification, and who issues it?
It's issued by the Center for Personal Reinvention, and the title is Certified Coach in Self-Esteem Elevation for Adults. It confirms you've completed this program and passed the exam.
To be straightforward with you: this is a private certification, not a government license or an academic degree. Self-esteem coaching is not currently a licensed profession in the United States, so no license is required to practice — but if you're outside the U.S., check your own country's rules before you start taking clients.
How soon do I get my certificate?
Usually less than two weeks after you submit a passing exam. It arrives by email, ready to print and frame.
Will you help me find clients?
Two ways. You can be listed with your name and contact details in the coach directory on the Center for Personal Reinvention website, for a $45 posting fee ($25 if you later need to change your details).
You'll also get permission to send out eight articles written by Dr. Rubino, with your own contact information added at the end, to build interest in your services.
What do coaches charge?
You set your own fees. Certified coaches we hear from typically charge somewhere between $75 and $300 an hour, most of it by phone. What you actually earn depends entirely on you — see the note at the bottom of this page.
Can I get help with a difficult client?
Yes. Dr. Rubino and other experienced coaches are available by appointment. That consultation is billed at $295 per hour and is normally paid by the client.
How do I get the materials?
